Back to normal (more or less)
Okay so my mega post spam was last Wednesday, and both many things and not a whole lot of things have happened since then.
I saw my psychiatrist for my quarterly med check and she was quite concerned about my recent narcolepsy (her term). She wants me to get a sleep study, which I am resisting because the last time I did that I was pressured into buying a CPAP machine I didn't need. I guess we'll see. This week so far I've been doing relatively well on that front, perhaps because I slept so freaking much over the weekend.
Friday morning I had a little sore throat and by that evening it was pretty clear I was coming down with something. So I NyQuil'ed it up Friday and Saturday nights, and took multiple long naps both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Saturday I dozed on the back deck in the reclining lawn chair Elliott got me for Christmas, under an umbrella Jason purchased recently. The weather lent itself perfectly to that delicious combination of reading a book and taking a nap.
Saturday evening we drove over to Lori's to take care of her dogs while she was at her daughter's wedding all day, then we went out for an early dinner, browsed Target and a couple other places, and enjoyed a lazy night in. Sunday was more naps, plus I started playing the new Oblivion remaster and completely lost track of time. Elliott decided to stay an extra day at his mom's, so we delayed opening my Mother's Day gifts by a day, much to Wyatt's chagrin. It's cute how excited they get about that sort of thing. I opened them last night - posters of Carl and Princess Donut, the two main characters from the Dungeon Crawler Carl book series I'm enjoying so much. My first gift actually came more than a week ago; it arrived in the mail and Jason simply could not wait for me to open it. (He's so cute.) It's a coffee mug with Princess Donut on it, singing. It's adorable. I kind of love when Jason themes my gifts for a certain holiday/birthday.
I will admit that when Jason first told me he'd gotten me a Mother's Day gift, I was confused. I've never celebrated it in my life (I really don't count being a cat mom as true motherhood), but I guess now I can. I never ceases to amuse me how often people react like I'm doing the lord's work by marrying a man with teenage sons. It really hasn't been much of a sacrifice.
Anyway, last night we had our first four-person quartet practice in weeks. I was masked because I still have a bit of a cough and congestion, but we're sounding all right. Lori's not quite back to 100% but she can sing most things, so I think we'll be fine. We have so many gigs coming up. I don't know if we're singing at Installation tonight - Beth didn't put us on the schedule in case Lori wasn't up to it - but I guess I'll find out soon enough.
This morning I saw my dentist for the last time. She's great but "close to my old house" is now "ridiculously out of the way" and I just can't do it anymore. But she did comment on how much better my teeth are looking, which I attribute largely to Jason's insistence on daily flossing. (Granted, he only nags the boys about it, but it's gotten me into the habit too.)
Busy times ahead. Tomorrow is a chorus show meeting. Friday the insulation guys are coming, and the quartet has a gig that evening (the same place we sang on New Year's Eve). Saturday is the Gaithersburg Book Festival, my first in a couple years. Here's hoping the weather is good - the forecast says rain almost nonstop through Friday. I've given away books in the rain before. It's not fun. Sunday, if I'm feeling up to it, I'm singing at the Lorton Farmers Market with the chorus. Monday the duct cleaning/sealing guys are coming (it was part of the deal with the insulation), I have a quartet gig for a luncheon in Reston, and that evening Jason and I are heading into DC to see Matt Dinniman, the author of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, and get some books signed. And the day after that is Zenith and Umbra's fifth birthday, if you can believe it!
Speaking of cats, Tango still isn't doing great, but we've finally gotten him to start eating (which includes taking his medicine). He isn't acting sick, just grumpy. He hides a lot and doesn't especially want to be touched. I miss the Tango who shouts at us every morning for food, purring and rubbing against our legs, the cat who loves head kisses and shoulder snuggles. I hope he comes back soon.
